Will MGM Be Back?

MGM the Former Empire

On November 3, 2010, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer which located in south of New York declared that they would accept the protection of Chapter 11. Well it meant that they would go bankruptcy. The former empire can not go any further because of short of fund MGM in a debt of $ 4 billion. This is the only way they can shed the huge debt. MGM has survived in the competitive Hollywood for 86 years and it produced so many classic films like The Wizard of Oz, The Philadelphia Story, Rocky and Tome and Jerry and those countless films. I think the most amazing achievement is that MGM has won 200 time Oscar Awards. That’s the record that will ever be.

Still Hope It Can Come Back

The recent news shows that MGM’s biggest debtors will Carl C. Icahn support them to get through this tough time. The biggest debtor own about 2 billion US dollar which is about half of the total amount. Some experts predict that MGM will not fall, it will be recognized and com back. But the title will be changed because the owner will be others. The Lion Gate has provided MGM a good offer and that might be the hope for the fans. The greatest chip for MGM is that they have the copyright of so classic films; especially The 007 and The Lord of The Rings are still popular. The Lord of the Rings’ director is working on a new blockbuster Hobbit which will be another box striker. This intelligent wealth will never depreciate since it has already taken some place in our heart.
 
Why the Empire Fell

I am quite curious why this former empire would fall since it has already taken some share of the field. The experts analyzed that because MGM’s single management in film narrowed its income. In recent years MGM didn’t produce any film as popular as Avatar or Inception. MGM only devoted to film making, on the contrary their competitors has more ways of promoting, like internet, TV and broadcast. Actually the fans are quite unsatisfied with the recent productions from Hollywood. After the invention of television the film makers has suffer a lot and the internet makes this even worse because the film download. Now days film is not the professionals’ spatiality. The normal people can make a film with camcorder which you may spend 100 USD from online shopping store. As we can see the entertainment circle is getting wider and someday you may get a Oscar Award. The MGM falls and we can stand for the little gold man.
